Hey mama, how long have you been running full speed ahead?
Maybe you’ve been powering through the to-do list, juggling kids and business, doing “all the right things”, but inside, you feel completely spent. You’re snapping more, sleeping less, and wondering when this nonstop pace will finally let up.
I see you.
And I’ve been there too.
In this week’s episode of the Faith Fueled Mompreneur podcast, I’m sharing a deeply personal story, one where God quite literally forced me to slow down, look at my capacity, and finally release the pressure I had been carrying for way too long.
Because when you push yourself past your limits, trying to prove something or keep it all together, eventually something gives out.
And sometimes, it’s you.
When God Literally Slowed Me Down
A few weeks ago, we were on our way back from a camping trip. I was already feeling drained from a super full season.
And then it happened.
Our trailer brakes gave out on the highway.
We had to pull over and wait for hours, stuck in the middle of nowhere.
At first, I was frustrated. But then, I heard God gently speak to my heart:
“This is what you’ve been doing, pushing forward without fully relying on Me.”
He used that forced pause to get my attention.
To remind me that rest isn’t earned. It’s designed.
You Can Be Obedient… and Still Exhausted
I used to believe that rest was only for the lazy.
That if I wasn’t producing or pushing, I wasn’t being faithful.
But here’s the truth, friend:
You can be completely surrendered to God and still physically and emotionally exhausted.
And that exhaustion? It doesn’t glorify Him.
It actually disconnects you from the strength He’s trying to give you.
When I finally took a hard look at my habits, my expectations, and my boundaries, I realized I had been functioning in survival mode, calling it obedience.
How to Know When You’re Over Capacity
If you’re wondering whether you’re there too, ask yourself:
- Do I feel like I have to prove something with my work?
- Am I constantly irritable or overwhelmed?
- Have I created space for rest, or do I wait until I crash?
God doesn’t ask us to earn His love through performance.
He invites us to walk in partnership with Him, which includes margin, rest, and surrender.
What It Looks Like to Stop Pushing Through
This season, God is calling me to slow down.
To steward what’s right in front of me, but without the frantic energy I’ve been carrying.
Here are a few ways I’ve been learning to stop pushing through:
1. Redefine Productivity
Rest is productive.
Time with God is productive.
Being present with your kids is productive.
It’s not just about what you do, it’s about who you’re becoming.
2. Embrace Incomplete
Some things can wait.
Every ball doesn’t have to be in the air at once.
I’ve had to let go of my obsession with finishing everything perfectly.
Because striving for perfection was robbing me of peace.
3. Protect Your Nervous System
This might sound random, but learning to regulate my nervous system has been a game changer.
From breathwork to pausing between tasks, these tiny shifts have helped me live from a place of peace, not pressure.
He’s Not Asking You to Do It All
Friend, I don’t know what your schedule looks like right now.
But I do know this:
God’s not asking you to do it all.
He’s asking you to walk with Him.
And if you’ve been white-knuckling your way through motherhood, marriage, and business, consider this your permission to pause.
The same God who called you to this season wants to carry it with you.

Final Words from My Heart to Yours
You weren’t created to carry the weight of motherhood and business all on your own.
God has already made His strength available to you. Now it’s time to reconnect and let your body carry what He’s called you to, with peace, not pressure.
Your family and your business don’t need what’s left of you.
They need the best of you.
So let’s stop normalizing burnout.
Let’s start rebuilding from the inside out.
And let’s keep showing up, rested, rooted, and ready.
With love and grace,
