Have you ever found yourself stuck in survival mode, just trying to make it through the day, juggling your kids, your business, your home, and wondering why peace feels so out of reach?
I’ve been there too, Mama. It’s the place where we’re doing everything in our own strength, striving and hustling to keep up.
But here’s the truth:
Things won’t slow down unless you intentionally slow them down.
If you haven’t yet listened to Part 1 of this series, What Busyness Is Robbing From You, start there first. It lays the foundation for what we’re diving into today, what it actually looks like to slow things down and step into a new way of living: shifting from survival mode to sacred stewardship.
From Striving to Stewarding
As moms and business owners, it can feel like everything depends on us. We wear so many hats and carry so many responsibilities that it’s easy to slip into survival mode, running on autopilot, trying to do it all.
But survival is what happens when we’re living from our own strength. Stewardship, on the other hand, is what happens when we surrender and allow God to lead.
God has entrusted each of us with time, energy, family, and purpose. He doesn’t ask us to manage everything. He asks us to faithfully steward what’s ours.
Take a moment to reflect on what He’s entrusted to you in this season. Then shift your mindset from “I have to do it all” to “I get to choose what aligns with God’s purpose for me right now.”
Because you don’t have to do it all.
And you were never meant to.
The Invitation to Rest
Jesus’ invitation in Matthew 11:28–30 says it best:
“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
If you’re feeling crushed, anxious, or pressured right now, know this: those feelings are not from God.
His yoke is easy.
His burden is light.
This season doesn’t have to be chaotic. It can be grounded, peaceful, and rooted in His presence if you’ll let Him lead.
Discerning What Matters Most
Not every invitation, opportunity, or idea is meant for you to say yes to.
As women, we often assume we have to do everything, attend every event, join every activity, accept every opportunity. But not every “good” thing is a God thing.
Start practicing discernment through prayer. When a new thought, invitation, or idea comes up, ask:
“Lord, is this something You want me to say yes to right now?”
You may disappoint people. You may even need to say no to something your kids or clients want. But every “no” creates room for your best “yes.”
And in doing so, you’re not just protecting your own peace, you’re modeling it for your family. You’re breaking generational cycles of hustle and teaching your kids that success doesn’t come from busyness; it comes from balance and alignment with God.
Doing Less Doesn’t Mean You’re Lazy
Doing less isn’t about avoiding responsibility. It’s about choosing what truly matters.
This practice, filtering decisions through prayer, is one of the rhythms we live by inside The Purpose Gathering Collective. We don’t just bring our big decisions to God; we bring our daily ones too. We pray over our calendars, our schedules, and our ideal weeks, asking Him to show us what deserves space and what doesn’t.
Because when we let God set the rhythm, everything changes.
Posture Your Heart for What Matters Most
Every “no” you say, every boundary you protect, every pocket of margin you create, it all positions your heart toward what matters most:
- Your relationship with Jesus
- Your family and peace
- Your presence in the moment
You might be with your kids all day, but are you present with them? Are you connected?
Presence doesn’t come from having more time. It comes from having intentional time.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about alignment. It’s about asking God what He wants you to release so you can make space for what He wants to give.
A Faith-Fueled Invitation
If this message is stirring something in your heart, I want to invite you to join me for our Faith-Fueled Fireside – a free monthly Zoom gathering where we talk about the very themes we’re unpacking on the podcast.
Our first Fireside happens on October 23rd, and I’d love for you to bring this question with you:
“What is God asking me to focus on, and what is He asking me to let go of, in this season?”
This is your space to connect, share, and be reminded that you’re not walking this journey alone.
From My Heart to Yours
Friend, you don’t have to keep running on empty.
You don’t have to keep waiting for life to slow down.
You can choose to slow down, right now.
Ask the Lord to show you what to steward well, what to surrender, and what to release.
And remember: Things will not slow down unless you intentionally slow them down.
Let this be the season you choose sacred stewardship over survival.
With love and grace,
