I am an ESA approved vendor, and ESA does cover cameras if you're in need of one. Class includes a printed workbook + video recordings for each lesson. Check out the curriculum overview below. (Pleae note the video recordings are froma previous class and will not be videos on location)
Lesson 1: Camera Basics + Intro to Manual Mode
Lesson 2: Still Life, Composition + Macro Photography
Lesson 2: Shooting Techniques + Composition
Lesson 3: Studio Lighting, Portraits + Flatlays
Your student will learn how to properly care for, handle and operate a sophisticated digital camera. They will learn how to properly expose each photo using ISO, aperture and shutter speed.
Students will learn how to make their photos visually interesting to their viewer, using techniques such as perspective, natural framing, leading lines, and avoiding tangents. Students will learn how to use their macro lens/filters to photograph objects close up. They will learn about white balance, manual focus, and explore composition as it relates to photographing scenery. This will be such a fun lesson as we peruse the park together!
Students will learn indoor studio lighting techniques at a professional studio. Families are encouraged to stay with their kids, so we have models to photograph. If you have an external hot shoe flash, or are able to purchase one (this is optional), please have your student bring it. They will learn how to style and group objects together. Students will have the chance to bring items from home to photograph inside on a white poster board (creating flatlays) and outside styled on a stool/small table.
Lesson 4: Telephoto Photography
During this lesson your students will dive into the world of telephoto photography making distant animals appear up close. They will learn to track and nail focus for animals that are moving including how to compose and frame their shots for added visual interest.

My 12 year old daughter was interested in learning photography and inspired me to start offering classes for kids. I have my degree in Elementary Education but never formally went into teaching. I became a nanny while I was in College and ended up Homeschooling their son for Kindergarten. These nanny kids were my models as I got into photography and started my own business. 12 years and 2 kiddos later, I'm a homeschooling mama, running 2 businesses and love that I get to combine my love for educating kiddos and photography into one. I can't wait to teach your student and ignite a lifelong love for photography.
