Do you struggle with thinking about the big picture of your business?
Are you wondering what your goals should even be, and having a hard time putting a plan into action?
I’m here to help you walk through how you can make quarterly planning in your business as a photographer super simple.
I am ready to help you stop winging it. I want you to have a clear and strategic plan about where you should be going in your business.
This Week’s Voxer Question: How do you feel about quarterly planning? What is one goal that you’d love to accomplish next quarter?
How To Start Planning For Your Upcoming Quarter:
1. Create Your Self Care Plan + Goals
If you fail to take care of yourself, the following tips won’t matter because you won’t have the capacity or the energy to execute them.
Ask yourself this question: What do you need to be the best version of yourself?
Start with both a morning and evening routine and have non-negotiables for them that serve you well.

After you have your self-care plan and your personal plan, then I want you to think about your business.
2. Brainstorm all your goals for the upcoming quarter
Do this on a blank Google Doc so you don’t lose it!
Goals really need to be specific, and they need to be in your control.
Project versus process goals are important to distinguish.
- Project goals have an end date
- Ex: Build new website, create a lead magnet, write email nurture sequence, create workflows and automations, new business cards, etc.
- Process goals are something you do on repeat
- Ex: Blog process , weekly mail newsletter, client journey workflow, editing workflow, album sales sessions, lead generation, marketing campaigns, visibility, relationship marketing etc.
3. With this, I always like to discuss The 3 Things Every Photography Business Needs to Survive
- Leads coming in (Marketing + Visibility)
- Leads converting to clients (Sales)
- Happy clients (Repeat clients/Referrals)
4. Where to Start with My Goals?
Most goals should fall under these categories:
- Marketing/Visibility
- Partnerships/Collabs
- Networking with other photographers
- Lead Generation- Clients to follow up with
- Call to action to get on your email list
- Booth/tradeshow – lead forms
- Nurture
- Have and Maintain a Blog
- Regular Email newsletter
- Personal Social media
- Invite
- Promos
- Client Experience
- Streamlined systems + workflows
- Solid communication/expectations
- Quality service + product
- CEO Work
- Education
- Bookkeeping
- Tracking Metrics
